What fees does ExpertMD charge?

ExpertMD charges a 2% platform fee on each invoice payment. This is deducted from the doctor’s payout. There are no monthly subscription fees for doctors. Attorneys have free and paid subscription tiers for team features.

Who pays the platform fee?

The 2% platform fee is deducted from the doctor’s payout. The attorney pays the full invoice amount. Stripe processing fees (approximately 2.9% + 0.30forcards,or0.80.30 for cards, or 0.8% capped at 5 for ACH) are also incurred.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The 2% platform fee is the only fee ExpertMD charges. Stripe processing fees are charged separately by Stripe and are clearly shown during the payment process.

Payouts (Doctors)

How long do payouts take?

After the initial verification period (7-14 days for new Stripe Connect accounts), payouts typically arrive in your bank account within 2 business days.

When do I receive my payout?

Payouts are automatic and follow Stripe’s rolling payout schedule. You can view your payout schedule in your Stripe dashboard.

Can I change my payout bank account?

Yes. Go to Billing > Go to Stripe Dashboard and update your bank account information. Changes take effect for future payouts.

Payment methods (Attorneys)

What payment methods are accepted?

ExpertMD accepts credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers through Stripe.

Which payment method should I use?

For small invoices, credit or debit cards offer instant processing. For invoices over 5,000,ACHbanktransferissignificantlycheaper(0.85,000, ACH bank transfer is significantly cheaper (0.8% capped at 5 versus approximately 2.9% + $0.30 for cards).

Can I pay by check?

ExpertMD does not currently support check payments through the platform. All payments are processed through Stripe.

Invoicing

Can I edit an invoice after sending it?

No. Once an invoice is sent (finalized on Stripe), it cannot be edited. If changes are needed, void the invoice and create a new one.

How do I void an invoice?

Open the invoice and click Void Invoice. The attorney is notified and the invoice is marked as void. PDF download links from invoice emails are valid for 90 days. After that, you can still download the PDF by logging in to ExpertMD.

Refunds

Can I get a refund?

Contact support at support@expertmd.io to request a refund. Partial and full refunds are supported and processed through Stripe.

How long does a refund take?

Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear on the original payment method, depending on the bank or card issuer.

What happens to the platform fee on a refund?

The platform fee is refunded proportionally. If a full refund is issued, the entire platform fee is returned.
